Here you will find useful information and tips to make the most of our accommodation. We have also included important information about what to avoid in order to maintain a safe and functional environment. Whether you are looking for solutions to common problems or tips to improve your day-to-day stay, this guide was created to help you!
1. General Rules
1.1 General Rules
- Smoking inside our houses is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply may result in the stay being cancelled without prior notice and without a refund for unused nights. Outdoor smoking areas are available, namely at the entrance to each house;
- Parties and events are not permitted by Villaverde Azores;
- People who are not registered guests may not enter the complex unless Villaverde Azores has been informed and has authorised their presence;
- Pets are not permitted in our houses, except assistance dogs for people with visual impairments who need them for mobility;
- Guests are responsible for any damage attributable to them during their stay;
- Guests are fully responsible for keeping their belongings safe. Villaverde Azores is not liable for vandalism, robbery or theft on the premises;
- All accommodation units have a clearly marked first-aid kit in the bathroom area for basic first aid in minor situations;
- Our accommodation units are equipped with fire-safety equipment (fire extinguishers and fire blankets), clearly marked and to be used only for that purpose;
- Villaverde Azores provides BATH towels and BEACH towels. The white towels must be used ONLY inside the houses; the beach towels may be taken outside, to the pool or off the property (for example, to Ferraria or the beach). They must ALWAYS be returned to the property at the end of the stay.
1.2 Check-in and Check-out Times
At all Villaverde Azores properties, check-in is from 14:00 (local time) and check-out is by 10:00 (local time).
If you would like an early check-in, please contact us. It may be approved subject to availability. Early check-in is never available before 12:30. If you need to arrive earlier, we recommend booking the immediately preceding night.
1.3 WI-FI

All houses have fast internet with contracted speeds of up to 500 Mbps.
Each house has its own internet connection, separate from the others on the property. The network name is the name of the house in which you are staying (Casa do Priolo, Casa do Milhafre or Casa do Açor). The internet password will be sent with your check-in instructions. There is also an outdoor network shared by all houses called VILLAVERDE AZORES; its password is also provided in the check-in instructions. We recommend this network while in the garden for better browsing speed.
Do not disconnect any network or wall cables. This may interfere with the electrical, internet, home automation, water-heating, Wi-Fi and property security systems. If you need additional power sockets, please contact us.
1.4 Quiet Hours

At Villaverde Azores, we have the utmost respect for all our guests. Quiet hours must therefore be observed:
From 21:00 to 08:00 quiet hours apply.
1.5 Waste

We kindly ask guests to use the outdoor waste-sorting area. Separate containers are provided for paper/cardboard, metal/plastic, glass and organic waste.
1.6 Swimming Pool

Other points to consider:
1. Please supervise young children and anyone who cannot swim confidently. The pool is 1.20 m deep;
2. We use an automatic pool-cleaning robot. If it is in the pool, you may remove it carefully (do not pull the cable) and return it after swimming. It is also safe to swim while the robot is operating, as it poses no risk of electric shock.
3. The pool is open all year round and at any time;
4. Do not step or walk on the wooden pool edge, as it may break under an adult’s weight.
1.7 Guest and Property Safety

Villaverde Azores is equipped with security cameras operating 24 hours a day to protect guests’ vehicles, prevent unauthorised access and ensure the safety of guests and the property.
1.8 Products Provided
Villaverde Azores provides every guest with a welcome basket containing local products.
You will also find laundry detergent, salt, shower gel, shampoo, toilet paper, white bath towels for indoor use and coloured towels for use outside Villaverde Azores. The coloured towels must be returned at the end of your stay; missing towels may be charged at check-out.
We also offer wine in each house for an additional charge. To purchase it, scan the QR code beside the bottles with your phone and pay by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, prepaid or debit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. Airbnb guests may also use the “SEND MONEY” option in their booking. To pay in cash, leave the amount in the box beside the wines; it will be collected at check-out.

2. Appliances and Technical Difficulties
2.1 Entrance Door
Use the lockbox at the entrance to obtain the access key. Use this key only to open the door, then return it to the same lockbox. The main key will be inside the house, on top of the island map or on the kitchen table.
NOTE: The entrance key has a small notch. Check it carefully: the notch must face up or down as shown in the images, never sideways. This is the correct position for inserting it into the lock. Do not FORCE it. Turn the key fully and apply slight pressure in the same direction at the end to open the door.

2.2 Coffee Machine

Our coffee machines are DOLCE GUSTO. Make sure you buy capsules specifically for this machine. Various options are available, including flavoured coffee, coffee with milk and hot or cold tea. Guests must purchase their own capsules, as Villaverde Azores does not provide coffee.
You can buy them at Casa Cheia das Feteiras, just a two-minute drive away.
If you are unsure how it works, watch the video below.
NOTE: The machine switches on automatically after the capsule is inserted.
Move the selector left or right according to your drink preference (hot or cold).
2.3 Air Conditioning

Watch the video below to learn how to use the air conditioner. It has four operating modes:
- Cooling
- Heating
- Dehumidifying
- Fan
Please use it responsibly and switch it off when it is no longer needed or when you leave the house.
The image shows the air-conditioning remote control.
On/Off: RED button
Raise/lower temperature: Up and down arrows
Change MODE: Switch between HEAT (sun symbol), COOL (snowflake), DEHUMIDIFY (water drops) and FAN by pressing the MODE button.

2.4 Washing Machine

Time to do some laundry? 🙂 Here is some help to get your clothes clean and fresh again.
After a wash cycle ends, or if you stop a cycle that has started, wait about two minutes for the door to unlock. DO NOT FORCE the machine door.
If your machine is a BEKO, follow these instructions:
1. Place the laundry in the drum;
2. Add detergent to the drawer on the left (it has three compartments; use compartment 1 for detergent);
3. Turn the centre dial to the desired programme;
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button on the right to start. The door cannot be opened immediately after this point. Wait until the cycle finishes, or press pause and wait at least two minutes for the safety lock to release. DO NOT FORCE the door during this period.

If your machine resembles the LG model in the image, follow these steps:
1. Place the laundry in the drum;
2. Add detergent to the drawer on the left (use compartment 1);
3. Switch on the machine using the first button on the right;
4. Turn the centre dial to the desired programme. In the vertical position: (1) Cotton, (2) Hand Wash/Wool, (3) Duvet, (4) Quick 30 minutes (recommended), (5) Rinse/Spin, (6) Baby clothes, (7) Delicates, (8) Synthetics, (9) Large cotton items.
5. Press PLAY/PAUSE once. You will hear the safety lock engage and washing will start shortly. DO NOT FORCE the door until two minutes have passed after the wash ends or PAUSE has been pressed.

2.5 Hob and Oven
Hob
Villaverde Azores uses electric hobs. Their operation is very similar.
- Press button (1) to switch on the hob. If your hob does not have this button, continue to step 2;
- Select the cooking zone you wish to use (you may select more than one);
- Use – and + to decrease or increase the power for the selected zone;
- IMPORTANT: If a padlock or the letter “H” appears and you cannot use the hob, it is locked. Press and hold the padlock button for 2–5 seconds to unlock it.

Oven
To use the Villaverde Azores oven, turn the controls clockwise. Make sure you also turn the timer control (control 2), otherwise the oven will not start.
Control functions:
(1) Heat source (top element, bottom element, both, or fan-assisted)
(2) Time
(3) Temperature
Please take particular care when using the oven, especially around young children, to prevent burns.
